A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

The Shakespeare Circus
Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July

Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream
is filled with lovers, royalty, fairies, and a troupe
of spectacularly earnest amateur actors.
Traditionally, it requires a generous cast;
our versatile troupe numbers six.

In this fast-paced ensemble production,
six fearless performers take on the court of Athens,
four romantically confused young lovers, an entire
fairy kingdom, and a group of mechanically inclined
thespians — often with only seconds to transform
between them.
Through inventive staging, original live music,
quick costume changes, and bold character work,
this small company creates a world that feels very large.

This production leans into the play’s central theme of transformation — in love, in identity, and in perspective — while celebrating the joyful theatricality of storytelling with limited resources and unlimited imagination.

We invite you to relax, suspend disbelief, and enjoy the dream.

In 2022, The Shakespeare Circus was created to bring Shakespeare
to the next generation in a fun, playful, and exciting way.
We focus on storytelling, comedy and music as well as on making Shakespeare
feel current and understandable to modern-day audiences.

This production is directed by RSC director and voice coach Michael Corbidge
